Hi, I recently went to the FOR very sharp pains on the left lower side of my head, the ER doctor said it could have been meningitis but that he didn’t think it was because I wouldn’t have survived a whole week with that pain and ‘meningitis’ so he said I had a viral infection, but today I find out that when I was three I had meningitis and I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and people that would come see me had to be clothed in a specific manner, I was basically in isolation. I’m 18 now, and I had no way of figuring this out earlier because my mom passed away last year so I couldn’t ask her if I did have it or not, but today my aunt told me I did and now my question is can meningitis come back?

If so how worse does it come back, how would I know?

My baby sister, Savannah Alease Brooks passed away from Meningitis a year ago, after being sent back home during a doctors visit 2 days prior. It was, and still is a devastating circumstance that has left traumatic memories of the pain she suffered on my heart. Not only that, witnessing my mother go through the stages of mourning, is hard to bear. Especially knowing that there is no way I could possibly bring Savannah back to comfort her heart. Something I am super passionate about is Fashion. November 28, 2015, I will be putting on a Fashion Show not only to Magnify the legacy of Savannah Alease Brooks, but to spread awareness for Meningitis across the world. In conclusion, I would be honored and forever grateful if the Meningitis Foundation of America would consider collaborating with me on this powerful project.

I would love to send you more details about Savannah’s Story. Please feel free to email for more details at keyanna.dudley@gmail.com

Now detectives knocking on our neighbors doors even all they way down the steeets. One said there was a murder down the street from you and you have nothing to worry anout (which is a lie the baby had purple feet when born and red blotches all ove him alittle red mark in left eye and right eye was alitlle swelling ) and the nurses at hospital said all this was normal.. Well nine days old my grandson had mini strokes . so dont think all that was normal . purple feet signs of lack of oxygen. Red blotches sign of meningitis. Which we took baby to his dr that morning and she said his oxygen was going from 100 to 85 to take him to hospital which we did arrived at er and got in back to dr there stated he was having a seizure. They there did a bunch of test while in there care baby stopped breathing. They stabilized baby put tubes down nose and got him ready to transfer to umc.when arrived at umc tube had to be adjusted for it was in wrong.so there was a hour of not enough oxygen for baby. Which umc had to do surgery and doctor said no trama to baby but baby was having mini strokes. Now detectives cps trying to claim shaking baby .. Harrassing us coming all the time and now banging on neighbors doors that dont even no us.telling them a false statements. For this is not abuse but is medical now i am going to news and going to get our story out. They are slandering our names making false staements harrasssing us and all for what cps to make there buck off another illegal kidnapping.

Hello my name is Duncan Trotter, first off I am a student at Oak Hill High School located in Wales, Maine and I am a senior. At the end of the year seniors have to present a senior project in order to graduate. I decided to do mine on Meningitis Awareness for the reason that I have had a brother who unexpectedly died from the disease. My senior project is based around raising money and informing more an more people on Meningitis. I am in the process of looking for a foundation to help me get this movement started an raising as much money as possible to donate to the foundation. I appreciate your time an hope we can talk more about moving forward with this. Thank you for your time.

To: helpline@meningitis.org@ 9months old I had Meningitis, 2wks hospital stay 1963 given 3strains of inoculations, spinal tap to confirm. Long Term after effects I have read on your site. am clumsy, 86% deaf in left ear with old vestibular lesion damage noted by Neurologist via testing 2009. Difficult to get anyone to investigate this.

Seeking disability in the USA, Doctors in past are unresponsive to my claim to look at the possibility that meningitis @ 9months old is the baseline. Symptoms: slurred speech, balance, vertigo, dizziness, unable to feel steady on my feet, anxiety, some depression, unable to concentrate for long periods, difficulty reading so on so forth. Always exhausted.

Looking to present damage seen in MRI White Lesions Old Damage, may be related & Vestibular Damage to Left ear Old too.

Hello Kris

Sorry to hear about your experience of meningitis and the after effects. You might find our recovery page interesting.

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to offer support in the US and cannot advise on disability benefits there. Have you contacted the Meningitis Foundation of America for support?

Sorry we can’t help but we wish you well.

Kind regards

How can I post my meningitis story on the MFA website?
commented 2015-03-08 21:01:02 -0700

I recently checked my website (http://www.hkvstar.com), it was penalized by the unatural links. As I know the only way to remove this penalty is if I manage to remove these links to my site. Hence I REALLY need your help.

The following pages on your site contain links to our site:

Failure to remove the link to my site will result in me having to file a disavow report to Google. My concern is that if I submit your site to Google’s tool, this will flag your site up as “spammy” and not in compliance with their guidelines. The last thing I want is for you to have to go through this.

Your prompt attention and a response once the links have been removed would be highly appreciated.

Sorry for the hassle and thanks in advance for your help.

I was wondering if you have any material that I could share at my blood drive. I host 1-2 drives every year, in memory of my son , Jeremy, whom I lost to Mengococcemia in Oct. 2010. He was only 22 years old.

My sister contacted a lady who got her some shirts, hats, bumper stickers, and magnets, and banners with his name on it, and I would like to share this with my blood drive particiapants too, as it has more meaning than most will ever know! Please contact me if this is a possibility, as I was joyed to see the banner and shirt and wear the hat in memory of him, and would be joyed to have items that have personal meaning to share.

Thank You, Vicki

I am trying to find a treatment and rehab program for a 58 yr old woman who had severe bout of viral meningitis in July of 2014. She has short term memory loss & personality changes. She is unable to live alone or work as an RN. She has received little therapy and is being treated as a dementia patient. Who is working on the unique post meningitis patient’s unique needs? We will take her anywhere for help.

Hello! My mother suffered severe brain trauma due to Listeria Meningitis. In our 26 year effort towards her slow recovery, and in response to some recent complication, we have come across a new treatment plan that is proven successful but is not yet recognized by insurance plans. The program, Neurofit, uses PT/OT to access brain function in an effort to recover what was lost in the Meningitis trauma. The program costs $4000—which of course we don’t have due to decades of mom’s abundant medical costs and disability. Regular PT has not worked to date. Our immediate goal is to keep her from falling (a daily occurrence) and severely hurting herself (a common occurrence). While we are saving up for the treatment, we are looking for any grants that might be available to her. Time is of the essence as she injures herself daily.

Many thanks,

Hello, I am posting this on behalf of the Beckett family. Yesterday, they lost their 13 year old son to bacterial meningitis. It was a very tough road and Ryan lost his fight. I am asking for support for his family. Kind words, prayers, donations, anything and everything is welcome. Thank you so much! https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/join-ryan-s-fight-/281967
